Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society has constituted “Mufti Mohd Sayeed Memorial Award” from this year. The award consists of Rs.51,000/- cash, citation and memento. The award would be given to a politician/ Academicians who has rendered tremendous service to Politics/Academics. The award would be presented every year on the death anniversary of Mufti Mohd Sayeed. This was disclosed today in the welcome address of a Mushira by Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, President Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society and HOD Urdu. The Mushira was jointly organized by department of Urdu, University of Jammu and Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in memory of Late Mufti Mohd Sayeed. Various poets from Jammu region paid poetic tribute to Mufti Mohd Sayeed and described him a multidimensional personality who has rendered marvelous service to the society throughout the country. The Mushira was presided over by noted Urdu poet of Sub-Continent Aresh Sahbai, while Minister for Haj and Aquaf Mr. Farooq Andrabi was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Jammu University Vice Chancellor Prof. R.D. Sharma and noted Urdu poet Ahmed Shanas was the Guest of Honours on the occasion.
Emotionally speaking on the occasion the Minister for Haj and Aquaf Farooq Andrabi described Mufti Mohd Sayeed a politician par excellence, who has always worked for the betterment of the down trodden society members. Mufti Mohd Sayeed was a politician, Academician, intellectual and lover of culture and languages. He was the man who dedicated his whole life to the politics. He remained Minister in the state Government, Tourism and Home Minister in the Central Government and Chief Minister of the state twice during his whole political carrier. Mufti Mohd Sayeed has a great vision regarding the development of three regions of the state said Farooq Andrabi. He further said that the new generation should make role model to Mufti Mohd Sayeed and should work for the betterment of the society. The Minister lauded the poetry of the poets who presented their poetry on the occasion. He announced that Marwha region of Kishtwar District will be provided electricity soon. He also quoted some of the famous verses of Allama Iqbal while paying tributes to Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor of the Jammu University Prof. R.D. Sharma Congratulated the organizers of the program for organizing a Grand Mushira. He said that such types of activities provide a platform to younger generations to display their hidden talent. Prof. R.D. Sharma said that Jammu University is doing every effort for promoting the Urdu language. He congratulated the Head of the department, Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik for keeping university always vibrant by arranging different types of literary activities.
Speaking on the occasion the secretary of the Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Dr.Aziz Hajini announced that a special number on the life and works of Mufti Mohd Sayeed would be published very soon of Sherza, the monthly magazine of the academy. It would be in Urdu and English language. He invited the scholars present on the occasion to write on the personality of Late Mufti Mohd Sayeed. The poets who paid tributes to the Late Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed included Aresh Shahbai, Mr Sham Talib, Balraj Bakshi, Vidya Rattan Asi, Liaqat Jafri, Ahmed Shanas, Mohan Singh Ulfat, payasa Anjum, Betab Jaipuri, Rubina Mir, Perwaiz Malik, Khursheed Bismal, Rahat Hussain, Khureed kazmi, Amin Banihali, Zahir Banihali, Vidya Parkash Kashap, Ghulam Nabi Gafil, Rehmat Banihali, Ushaaq Kishtwari, Tanveer Bhadwerai, Zulfaqar Naqvi, Deepak Arsi, P.S. Betab.
The proceedings of the Grand Mushira was conducted by Dr Shehnawaz Choudhary Culture officer of the academy while vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed, Associate Professor of the department of Urdu, University of Jammu. A Large number of students, scholars and civil society members attended the Grand Mushira. On this occasion secretary cultural academy Dr.Aziz Hajni was also honoured by the department of Urdu for his contribution to the kashmiri language & literature.
