To pay Rich Tributes to Prof. Zahur-ud-Din the former HOD Urdu and Registrar of the University of Jammu, the next issue of ‘TASALSUL’ a Research Journal of the department of Urdu will be published as Prof. Zahur-ud-Din Number.
The decision was taken today in a meeting of Departmental Affairs Committee presided by its convener, Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik. The members who were present in the meeting include Dr. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed, Dr. Chaman Lal, Dr. Abdul Rashid Manhas and Dr. Farhat Shamim. It was decided that since Prof. Zahur-ud-Din was a towering Urdu writer and critic, therefore, a special number of “Tasalsul” be published on the life and works of Prof. Zahur-ud-Din. It was also decided that writer of the state as well as of the country will be approached to write on the life and works of Prof. Zahur-ud-Din.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prof. Zahur-ud-Din expired recently due to his brief illness. He served the University of Jammu in various capacities including HOD Urdu, Dean Faculty of Arts, Controller of Examination, Convener Heritage Cell and Registrar of the University of Jammu. He has written one and half dozens of books. His books like “Urdu Drama aur Haqaqeet Niagri”, “Jadeed Urdu Drama “, “Khani Ka Irtiqa”, “ The Development of Urdu language in Jammu Region”, are liked by one and all in the urdu world.
Prof. Zahur-ud-Din was associated with various cultural and literary organizations of the state. He was also a social activitist. He played a vital role in maintaining Communal Harmony and National Integration in Jammu. He was honoured by various Urdu organizations for his contribution to Urdu language and literature.
