Sir Sayed day was celebrated by the Department of Urdu, University of Jammu

Like the other parts of the world “Sir Sayed day” was today celebrated by the department of Urdu, university of Jammu in the Prof. Gian Chand Jain seminar hall of the department f Urdu with great enthusiasm. The speakers emotionally described Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan not only a towering University of Jammu writer but also a social reformer and multidimensional personality who through his ideas brought a revolution in the Muslim society of his time. He was a man having a secular bent of mind and it is the need of the of the hour to spread the ideology of Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan to younger generation so that country could develop more and more. Speakers through their speeches and presenting papers said that Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan was the man who establish a college which later became a university and is called Aligarh Muslim University throughout the world. The speakers said that today the Aligarh Muslim University is in the news for the last 2 years and appealed the secular minded people of India to remain vigilant against those forces who want to divide India on religious basis .The Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan day celebrations was presided over by Prof. Ram Nadan Singh HOD Buddhist Studies, Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik HOD Urdu and Dr. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed, Associate Professor of the department of Urdu also grace the presidium. The main feature of the Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan day celebration was the presentation of the paper by some of the Research Scholars who evaluated the works and contributions of the Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan in a befitting manner. The 1st paper was presented by Saima Manzoor on the philosophy of Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan, in which she described Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan a social reformer philosopher , leader of Muslim community who advocated for modern Education for Muslim. He gave a befitting reply to the English emperor by writing a marvelous Book ‘Asbab-e-Bagawat-e-Hind’. Besides he also struggled for the education of Muslim which were the most deprived society at this time said Saima Manzoor. Dr. Farhat Shamim in her paper threw light on the Urdu contribution of Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan. She inform that Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan and his associate brought a revolution in urdu prose it is because of Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan that urdu prose get a new turn. In this mission Hali, Azad and Shibli along with Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan contributed by writing Urdu prose in different magazine. Dr. A.R. Manhas in his paper described Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan a intellectual who worked hard for the upliftment of the downtrodden Muslim society members . Zakar Hussain, Ajaz Hussain and Pyare Hatash too paid glowing tributes to Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan and demanded Bharat Rattan award for the great personality of India.
In his presidential address Prof. Ram Nadan Singh described Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan a nationalist par excellence who not only worked for Muslim but also other religions which are prevailing in India. He described India a garden where different flowers are growing. It is need of the hour to spread the message of Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan so that India could be made more developed and powerful country. Prof. Ram Nadan Singh also lauded the scientific approach of Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan.
Earlier in his welcome address Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik HOD Urdu discuss various aspects of the personality of the great scholar he severally criticize the state and central Governments for not celebrating the Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan day in official capacity. Prof. Shohab said that Muslim had played a vital role in the freedom struggle of India. It was Molvi Baker Ali who was hanged by Britishers soon after 1857 as he used to write against the policy of British Government not only this Ashfaq Ahmed Khan also sacrificed his life for India, but today these personalities are being ignored by the fundamentalist forces which is going to harm the National Integraty of the country. Prof. Shohab demanded that Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan should be awarded Bharat Rattan Award after his death as he has brought a revolution in the India society particularly for the upliftment of downtrodden Muslim society. He described Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan a man having secular bent of mind and writer having several book to his credit.
The proceeding of the Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan day celebration’s was conducted by Dr. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed who too paid glowing tributes to Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan. He threw light on the role of Aligarh Muslim University in spreading the education not only in India but also all over the world. He informs that today yearly near about 40,000/- students get their education through AMU established by great philosopher Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan.
Dr. Chaman Lal presented a vote of thanks on the occasion. The Sir Sayeed Ahmed Khan day celebrations was attended by students, scholars and members of the civil society.
