“Urdu Mein Khatoot Nigari- Riwayat Aur Tasasul Ke Imkanat” a book complied jointly by Head of the department of Urdu, University of Jammu Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik and Head of the Department of Urdu, PG MAM College Jammu Dr. Shahnaz Qadri was today released by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu Prof. M.K. Dhar in a simple but an impressive function organized by the department of Urdu, University of Jammu, Jammu in the Prof. Gian Chand Jain seminar hall of the department of Urdu, University of Jammu. The Book Release function was presided over by Prof. Saheb Ali, HOD Urdu, Mumbai University, Mumbai while reputed Urdu poet of the sub-continent Aresh Shahbai and former HOD Urdu Kashmir University Prof. Qudose Javeed also grace the presidium.
The Book Release function was attended by the students, scholars and faculty members as well as respectable citizens. Dr. Asif Malik, Assistant Professor from Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri and Dr. Farhat Shamim Assistant Professor department of Urdu, University of Jammu highlighted the merits and demerits of the book in their papers. The book contains 600 pages and has been published by Qasmi Kutub Khana Jammu. The book is the collection of the articles which were presented in a International seminar organized by the department of Urdu, University of Jammu last year. While speaking on the occasion Vice Chancellor Prof. M.K. Dhar congratulated Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik and Dr. Shehnaz Qadri for bringing out a valuable book. He described Urdu a civilized language. He also said that his grandfather use to teach him Urdu and his father was writing letter in Urdu to him when he was studying outside the state. The letter written by his father, Grandfather and relatives has been still preserved by him. Describing letter writing an art Prof, M.K. Dhar said that Urdu calligraphy is also a fine art which needed the attention of the Urdu lovers too. Prof. M.K. Dhar also recited some Urdu verses which were appreciated by the audience. He described Urdu department of University of Jammu as most vibrant department of the country which is organizing the literary functions seminars, Mushiras frequently. Prof. Saheb Ali too highlighted the merits and demerits of book and described the book a valuable for students and scholars. Earlier Vice Chancellor also inaugurated two day National Urdu Book Exhibition . The Book exhibition has been organized by the department of Urdu in collaboration with various publishers from Delhi, Aligarh and Jammu. The publishers have installed their stalls. Books related M.A. syllabi an also to research have been kept in the exhibition. 3000 titles have been displayed in the exhibition. Qasmi Kutub Khana, Educational Publishing House Delhi, Educational Publishing House Aligarh are selling the books on a comfortable discounts.
The proceeding of the program was conducted by Dr. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed Associate Professor of department of Urdu, University of Jammu while welcome address was presented by Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, HOD Urdu, University of Jammu and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. A.R. Manhas , Assistant Professor of department of Urdu, University of Jammu.
